PLATORO, COLORADO was an historic mining camp established in the 1870's when silver and gold was discovered around the nearby headwaters of the Conejos River. The community derived its name from the Spanish words for silver and gold (Plata and Oro). Much of the rustic flavor of those storied times remains in many of the log cabins in the area as well as our lodge.
